Camping has always been a huge part of my life. At the age of nine, I spent my first week at Camp Tapawingo on Candle Lake. This was the first year of many to follow. 8 years as a camper, one year as a CIT and finally a camp counsellor. Then I thought I had to grow up and get a real job. One year later when looking for a summer job, I discovered John Bosco Camp and student grants. Imagine being able to work at a summer camp and get paid while doing what you love. This was 1978 and the start of my Bosco experience. I enjoyed two full summers, followed by seven more years spending my three week vacation at camp leading canoe trips and teaching canoeing either in main camp or at the canoe skills site.

I took a break from camp from 1987 – 1990 and then returned in 1991 when I joined the Board of Directors. The first time I made that drive north to Zeden Lake that summer, I realized that I felt like I was coming home. Fast forward to today – I have been with Bosco for 39 years – nine as a counsellor, four as alumni and 26 on the Board, most recently serving as Treasurer. I live in Saskatoon and have worked for Saskatoon Housing Authority for the last 36 years. I continue to spend the majority of my vacation time working at my favourite camp in the Narrow Hills.
