Mary Grace Hardy, who has attended St. John Bosco Wilderness Camp for the last 5 years, was recently selected as the 2018 Winner of the Cydney Weir Award for Youth Environmental Leadership. The award was established in 2014 in honour of Cydney Weir, a passionate environmental leader. It is awarded to a Saskatchewan youth environmental leader aged 13 to 19 who is passionate about conserving nature, shows potential and interest in pursuing environmental studies and demonstrates an interest in teaching young children about the environment. Mary Grace credits her wilderness skills to her time spent at camp, where she learned about uses for native plants, orienteering, canoeing, fire building, camp building and no-trace camping practices.

In 2016, Mary Grace attended camp’s 24-day Adventure Leadership Experience program and has since returned to Bosco as a Group Leader where she shares her love of the Saskatchewan outdoors with out campers. For more information, visit the SaskOutdoors website. Congratulations Mary Grace!
