In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is with a heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person summer camp programs for the 2020 season. Registrations for the regular 2020 camping season are now closed.

For those who have already paid some or all camper fees for 2020, these fees will be refunded in full with the exception of any donations and membership fees. For more information about this cancellation, please see the full letter from the Board of Directors below.

In lieu of our standard in-person summer programs this year, we are keeping the spirit of camp alive by offering a virtual camping experience called the Spirit of Bosco. More information can be found on the Spirit of Bosco page or in our announcement video.

Dear St. John Bosco Camp Families,

As everyone knows there is still a lot of uncertainty about how the COVID-19 situation will conclude or when. The first priority of the Board of Directors is and always will be the safety of the campers and staff at the camp. In keeping with the directives of the Sask. Health Authority and the recommendations of the Canadian Health Authority, the Board feels it will be very difficult to guarantee the safety of our campers and staff this summer. Concerns such as social distancing, especially at night when campers are to sleep in tents, and cleaning/disinfecting are the main reasons for the Board’s decision. It is with a heavy heart and a lot of thought and discussion that the St. John Bosco Camp Board of Directors has made the difficult decision to cancel all summer camp programs for the 2020 season.

For those of you that have either paid the full amount of your child’s fees or those that have paid the deposit to ensure your child’s spot in a specific program, these fees will be refunded with the exception of any donation and membership fee.

As you may not be aware, the camp, although it will not have campers attending this summer still has expenses that need to be paid to keep the camp in good standing. As a result, I would like you to know that any donations made in an amount of $30 or over will receive a charitable donation receipt for income tax purposes and of course the Board’s gratitude.

As attending camp this summer will not happen, St. John Bosco Camp is looking to have an online program. There will be contact through email as well as our web page with regard to this programming and when it will be. A survey will be sent out to ascertain if this programming is viable and something that our members would participate in. Please take the time to fill out the short survey when you receive it, as it will help us to determine which type of activities and information should be put forward to you the members.

We look forward to hosting your child at St. John Bosco Camp in 2021.

Your understanding and assistance in these matters is greatly appreciated. If you have specific questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@johnboscocamp.com.

Take care and stay safe!
